Abstract: The performance and potential applications of concrete have been vastly increased ever since its invention over a century ago. One of the predominant weaknesses of concrete is its inherent low tensile strength – which is why concrete is typically reinforced by using another material, one capable of bearing the applied tensile stresses. One such material is textile, commonly made out of carbon or AR-glass. The objective of this study is to assess the performance of textile as a viable reinforcement material for concrete. In order to research the strength Textile Reinforced Concrete can achieve flexural and tensile tests have been carried out on a number of samples. Two types of textiles embedded in a mix of high performance concrete have been tested and compared in terms of their behaviour and strength. The results obtained have shown that strength of the bond between the concrete and the textile influences not only the overall strength of the material but also the way it behaves as the stress is applied.
