Yahya, The role of civil society in Palestine

Abstract

The last twenty years have witnessed a great deal of interest, both academic and practical, in the issue of civil society. The political, economic and social transformations that have taken place in the former Soviet Bloc have brought to the agenda all those issues closely related to the establishment of a democratic socio-economic and political structure. This disintegration of both the political left and totalitarian regimes in Latin America and different parts of the Third World has initiated, among other problems, the whole problematic of democratic governance, the individual, society and state and the role of intellectuals in the creation of civil society.
