Abstract: The ‘point’ of this thesis, as some members have put in question-form, is complex. However there have been two main reasons or aspects behind this research. As suggested by my tutor in the beginning of my research, as a member of the group, I would be able to capture the ‘social milieu’ of the organization which I was embedded in. My other motivation was to foster cultural understanding through the creation of an ‘imaginary’ between activists and people who are unfamiliar with their cosmology and daily voluntary work whilst at the same time try to leave space for all possible political identities and rituals to take form according to the multitude of interests the various members have (Moore 1999:3).
