dc.description.abstract | Eye-catching and striking visuals in the media have become necessary to attract the visually demanding audiences of the nineties: an audience that is accustomed to outstanding, high-quality images and always hungry for a more impressive visual world. The Impact of Images searches for the perception of images through a combination of scientific, theoretical and cultural studies. Chapter one introduces the subject. Chapter two carries a literature review of each study discussed in three seperate sections, emphasizing and building up to concepts that help in the discovery of what makes images visually effective and how impact is created effectively. Chapter three brings all the research together to devise a combined process of perception, and ten methods for making images memorable are identified and discussed. Specifically taken photographs, as well as pictures used in magazines, exemplify and describe these points. Chapter four is a conclusion that discusses the importance of these ten methods in the light of the electronic age. | en_GB |
