Abstract: This dissertation was carried out to examine the perception of the role of architecture in local primary and secondary education with respect to architectural sensitivity. Malta has an architectural history second to none, and It is our duty to show respect and appreciation towards past, present and future architecture. Therefore one's sensitivity towards the built environment is of critical importance. This could be carried out through educational programs and workshops which are designed with architecture as their basis of study. Hands-on, interactive projects connect, integrate and deepen the student's learning across the curriculum since architecture is a culmination of subjects in itself. Students explore their built environment through drawing, observation, fieldtrips, model making, research and other curriculum subjects. For the purpose of a thorough study, three different approaches were assessed to identify a solution for Malta's introduction of architecture in education. Ultimately this will not only open doors to architectural awareness and appreciation, but children will also have the opportunity to form self-expressive skills and critical thinking.
