Abstract: Corbels reflecting from the faces of columns are used extensively in precast concrete construction to support primary beams and girders. Precasting is an industrialised construction method where the aim is to achieve economy and quality construction. Because of the complexity of detailing and congestion of reinforcement it is frequently difficult to comply with the requirements of cover the quantity of stirrups, and economical requirements.
