Abstract: What are streets? Amos Rapoport asserts that streets are most commonly defined as "the more or less narrow, linear spaces lined by buildings found in settlements andused for circulation, and sometimes, other activities!" However streets are more than mere physical conceptions. More than any other entity of the urban fabric, streets both record and determine the history of the city form. Streets and their layouts reflect the societies that have created them.
