Abstract: The writer delves into modern methods of construction to tackle the problem of inefficient buildings. Prefabrication is considered as an efficient way of achieving goals and results with respect to cost, quality, speed, sustainability and overall client satisfaction. Introduction to the subject is followed by a brief architectural and non-architectural history, to actual process, the role of the architect, together with various case studies. Finally, the social impact and its applicability to Malta are discussed.
