Abstract: Gracing the lower part of Republic Street, the street punctuated with the remains of majestic buildings of the Order of St. John, is Palazzo De La Salle; a late 16th century Palazzo that once relished the pleasant vistas of the two embracing harbours. Although the earliest evidence dates back to 1695, maps such as those by Matteo Perez d'Allecio (1582), already suggests the presence of one or more buildings occupying the quarterie, now mostly occupied by Palazzo de la Salle itself.
