Abstract: The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the recent development and economic viability of some photovoltaic systems, demonstrating the great potential of generating electricity from the sun, in a country like Malta, where solar resource is present in abundance. The incorporation of solar applications in new buildings should be promoted not only as an energy-saver but also as a modern way of building. This study will focus mainly on photovoltaic and its architectural integration, its construction, technical and economical aspects, as well as energy policy with particular focus on solar and PV policy, incentives and their comparison to other EU member states.
