The accountancy graduate's dilemma as to what job to take on immediately after qualification is in most cases easily solved. Most university graduates join audit firms or start off as junior accountants in industry. A number of graduates following part-time courses initially simply carry on in the positions they occupied prior to qualification, though probably with much greater chances of advancement. The question of what job to take on possibly becomes a bit more puzzling later on. After five or ten years working in an audit firm or an accountancy department, one possibly starts to wonder as to what to do next - a delicate question given that, if taken either prematurely or at a stage too late, the repercussions will effect the rest of one's career. Luckily the choices are varied, and at least for the time being, opportunities abound both locally and overseas.en_GB
