Abstract: The objective of this dissertation is to obtain a clear understanding of the energy demands in office/showroom buildings. The data gathered will assist building personnel to produce energy-efficient and cost-effective design solutions through practical supporting guidance on how to plan energy use and make use of energy-saving measures. The dissertation will he divided into five chapters chapters one is an introduction, covering subjects dealing with the effects of energy-use. Chapter two consists of gathered data regarding the local climatic scenario and the particular case-study building. Chapter three deals with the assessment of the energy intensity in the case-study building. Alternative design methods and energy-saving measures will be proposed in chapter four and an evaluation of their benefits with respect to energy consumption and cost-effectiveness will be carried out in chapter five.
