Abstract: This thesis is intended as an insight to the incentives available for doing business in Malta and the requirements thereof. By means of the Industrial Development Act 1988 the Government offers incentives for the setting up of business enterprise in Malta. These incentives include tax holidays, export incentive schemes, investment allowances, soft loans, training grants and a host of other fiscal advantages. Further on into the thesis the incentives offered by two other Mediterranean countries namely Spain and Cyprus are explained. An insight to their respective economies and business enterprise is given as well as a brief description of the Investment and fiscal Incentives offered by these two countries.
