Abstract: The main objective of this dissertation is to evaluate a number of cost efficiency measures that can be used for the evaluation of efficiency in Secondary School education in Malta. The main measures used were the unit cost method and an estimation of the RR Model as suggested by the World Bank. The results point out to a higher educational expense per student in Secondary Schools throughout the years. This was partially due to higher capital expenditure in education during recent years. The basic estimation of the RR Model concluded that secondary education is cost efficient on the basis that it leads to better salaries for workers obtaining at least this kind of education. Lack of data availability and the importance of research on cost efficiency were critically analysed and discussed.
