Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of Maltese teenage fatherhood. An interpretative phenomenological approach was used to highlight better the participants' understanding of fatherhood for six fathers, who went through this experience. Purposive sampling was used to choose the teenage fathers. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews, which were conducted at the participants' homes or wherever they felt most comfortable. Sixteen common themes emerged from the analysis of the data. These fathers had to give up their freedom usually linked with adolescence, and take on a myriad of responsibilities for which they were not prepared. The study highlighted lack of social and professionals support to Maltese teenage fathers. The study gave a much-needed voice to teenage fathers, so that they will find their niche in society in an otherwise austere future.
