Abstract: This thesis aims to discuss the child's right to know her genetic parentage, in that the author will primarily examine whether such a right does in fact exist and will also examine the legal instruments which support its existence. This will be coupled with a discussion on the justification for the existence of such a right. For this purpose, the author will then delve into an examination of the relevant laws of Malta in order to establish whether they are protecting and safeguarding the child's right to know. This will be further achieved by several comparative analyses of what is being done in other jurisdictions. In turn, the author proposes certain courses of action for Malta, thus establishing what can further be done in order for the State to be at the forefront in the protection of the child's right to access their genetic parentage.
