Definition/ overview: 􀂃 Seismic vulnerability assessment of existing historical masonry buildings in the Vesuvius area aiming at evaluating the damage scenario due to earthquakes deriving from the volcanic eruption. 􀂃 Application to the study case of the “Palazzo di Città” in Torre del Greco in order to check its seismic vulnerability under the most unfavorable design earthquakes foreseen by the new technical Italian code (MD of January 14, 2008). 􀂃 Definition of the structure capacity curve under lateral loads due to the implementation of a FEM model by means of the Aedes software and relative achievement of the vulnerability index based on the ATC 40 procedure (1996). 􀂃 Vulnerability index evaluation by means of the existing analytical GNDT II level methodology (1994). 􀂃 Final comparison between procedures results and their critical interpretation.en_GB
