Abstract: | The research is aimed at assessing the attitudes of employees towards female managers. It is hypothesised that males perceive female managers negatively, whilst females perceive female managers positively. It is also hypothesised that employees in higher levels in an organisation will hold more positive attitudes towards female managers. The sample will consist of employees in organisations. The study involves questionnaires supported by email interviews to analyse whether attitudes have an effect on behaviour. Results showed positive attitudes from both genders and all levels but they revealed to be more positive from females. Attitudes were also found to have an influence on behaviour. The contribution of this study will be towards gender issues, including challenging gender stereotypes, equal opportunities, career guidance and initiatives to improve leadership. |
