dc.description.abstract | My one-hour pianoforte recital in part-fulfilment ofBA (Hons.) in Music Studies consisted of contrasting works chosen from the different eras ofWestern Music. I started with Bach's Italian Concerto from the Baroque era, continuing to the Classical Period with a Clementi sonata. Then, from the Romantic era, I performed a Chopin Ballade together with Liszt's Vallee d'Obermann, and finished off with the Modernist Estampes by Debussy. All the works exhibited major technical and stylistic developments in solo piano repertoire, and as a programme it was varied and balanced. What follows is a study of the performed works which was carried out during the year in preparation for the concert. I am also presenting issues which were tackled with my tutor during class which determined my interpretation of the chosen works. | en_GB |
