Abstract: In the Maltese Islands fireworks factories are almost completely ignored in terms of risks management processes and monitored legislations. The present study gives light to the existing situation. The fact that this aspect is not properly regulated is causing several inconveniences to several groups in society. This work reviews literature which has been addressed on risk management context approaches on an international standard. Furthermore, this work collects data of different perceptions and opinions of groups in societies that are involved in the fireworks activity or that are affected in some way by this activity. This data is gathered by means of interview and questionnaires. The risk management contexts that are reviewed in this dissertation shall hopefully bring awareness on what can be done to eliminate the risks imposed by hazardous industries such as fireworks factories in the Maltese Islands. Optimistically this work shall raise risk awareness amongst local responsible authorities in order to address the problem properly, so that in the long run no one would be disappointed because his hobby has been taken away or worse still because his life has been taken away tragically.
