Abstract: This study is an analysis of the development of NATO in light of European security and after Lisbon Treaty came in force. This study will analyse different mechanisms that are being used to protect security in Euro area also vis-a-vis USA, and other members of NATO. The literature covers the period up till February 2011. The security problems that the European Union is faced with are discussed. Chronological events related with NATO's and EU development are also evaluated. Sources of literature originating from international and governmental organisations are examined.
