Abstract: China's continuous economic growth since the late 1970s heralds its emergence as a great power in world politics. As its economy expanded, China became the second-largest economy in the world. It is overtaking the world's major economies one by one. At the same time, its growing economic capacity is bringing diplomatic and military strength. Many people have begun to deliberate the international implications of China's rise. Some analysts argue that 'China will inevitably pose a threat to peace and security in East Asia' A few like Willy Lam even predict 'a new cold war between Beijing and Washington'. Others claim that 'a powerful China can remain benign'. None believes that China can be ignored. This dissertation will assess China's emerging capabilities by analysing its historical background and reforms in various aspects in modem time, as well as negative consequences which originated from diverse transformations. All of these implications are which contained in the term 'the rise of China'; attract enormous attention not only from the outside world, but also within China. It is not just a wondering of the potential role which China will play in the future, but also the worries of solutions according to numerous economic, political, social problems. Hence, in this piece of work, the Chinese perspectives on the issue of China's rise will be given more consideration.
