Abstract: The scope of this study on the Gozo Seminary from the years 1930 to 1945 is primarily to give a historical insight on the development and contribution of this educational institution on Gozitan and Maltese society during this period culminating in the Second World War years. The First Chapter provides a picture on the first years of the establishment of the Seminary followed by the Jesuit administration until 1909 and progress registered during the subsequent years up to 1930. The Second Chapter gives an insight on the administrative, pedagogical, scholastic and curricular procedures adopted at the Gozo Seminary during the period under review and its influence on the education of the students attending this school. The Third Chapter is a picture of extra-curricular activities undertaken at the Seminary during this period and the amalgamation of these activities with the formal educational system in place at that time. The Fourth Chapter is a detailed account of the role played by the Gozo Seminary during the Second World War. This chapter bears witness to the period of social suffering and precarious situation of the islands and the role played by the Seminary which was a crucial one for the on-going educational formation of the numerous students attending this educational institution. Moreover so as to give testimony of the efficiency of the pedagogical methods adopted at the Seminary in the conclusion I listed a compilation of some of the most distinguished students who studied at the Seminary during the period under review. I limited myself to the time span of the fifteen years during the period 1930-1945 so that I would be able to delve deeper and analyze better the important role played by the Seminary during this period leading into the Second World War; during which period the Gozo Seminary emerged administratively and educatively stronger than before and progressing gradually to the major educational institution in Gozo as we know it today. I trust that this contribution sheds a light on the toil and effort of the Seminary staff as administrators and educators of our fathers throughout all these years.
