Abstract: I don't know exactly how the love for mediaeval spirituality grew in me. Maybe the fact that I'm a history teacher plays an important role. The mediaevals, their culture, their rigid mentality, their staunch way of life, their fine art and articulate architecture, have always been my favourites. When I started studying theology and in particular, the history of its spirituality, blindfolded I searched for the mediaevals. Such names as Thomas a Kempis, the unknown author of The Cloud of Unknowlng and St. Catherine of Siena prevailed. I think that this spirituality requires at least a credit on its own. But that's not all ! In the midst of it all, I came across The Revelation of Love by Julian of Norwich and it was 'love at first sight'. For me it was an amazing discovery. Soon it was time for me to choose a subject for my dissertation, and why not, I chose my favourite period, Mediaeval Spirituality. Of course, it had to be Julian! Who else? Before long, I learnt that almost nobody (to be very positive) knew anything about her. Once a lecturer asked me about my dissertation and upon hearing the name Julian of Norwich, I could read his perplexity· in his eyes. All this continued to encourage me further and tried as hard as I could to delve deeper into the matter [...].
