Abstract: This research study discusses the relationship that exists between Science/Biology and Christian faith. It focuses mainly on the interactionist approach, proposed by Ian Barbour. Three biological concepts are taken into consideration: evolution, cloning and methods of family planning. This relationship is studied within the school context, highlighting its implications for teacher and students. Data for this research study was collected qualitatively. Interviews were conducted with Biology teachers employed in Church Schools, State Schools, an Independent School and Post-Secondary School. Other participants included a limited sample of Religion teachers and Educational Administrators. The results of the study indicated that a number of teachers of Biology found it difficult to reconcile their personal religious views with the requirements of the Biology syllabus at various levels of education. A major finding that emerged from these interviews was the need for teachers to be given professional training for this interaction to be implemented effectively in class. Adequate professional training will prevent unnecessary conflicts and contradictions on the part of the teacher which may affect the holistic development of students. If teachers are formed holistically, students would be able to receive a holistic education. As a result recommendations that may lead to a better interaction between the two areas in class are put forward.
