Abstract: Preface: In the era of publish or perish, this one-stop book will provide everything one needs to know about conducting research and publishing it, be it in a scientific journal or as a media article. The aim of this book is to provide a step-by-step guideline to students and professionals alike, in the medical/health field to; (i) familiarize with different research study designs, (ii) understand the importance and how to acquire the different permissions and ethics approvals, (iii) achieve the skills of scientific writing, and (iv) successfully publish. This book will also plunge into an “invisible aspect” of scientific publishing, yet an important one that everyone should be aware of and understand, i.e., the art of journal selection (subscription vs. the various open access modalities), avoiding predatory journals, understanding the editor’s perspective, and familiarizing with the various research metrics (from author to journal), all of which can make or break one’s success. The book is written in an informal style with the author sharing personal perspectives and experiences along the course of the book.
