Abstract: Our dissertation is an attempt at developing a whole school policy for supporting Reading in Primary Schools, based on what has been found in recent literature and on a survey carried out amongst the heads of the local Primary Schools. The aim is to see how headteachers in their administrative role can work collaboratively with teachers and students and in partnership with the community, especially parents, to develop the best methods, resources, and assessment procedures to form an effective literacy programme.
