Abstract: This report presents a review of a two week visit to Lilian Baylis Comprehensive School (LBS) in Kennington, London, UK. The visit covers the period from 3 to 14 November 1997 and was intended to provide a means of reflection on administrative and management practice in a foreign school. Chapter 1 gives an overview of the origin of the school and moves on to consider its aims and ethos. Chapter 2 discusses the staffing and support structures. It looks into the roles of different members of staff and gives information about support projects which are available at the school. Chapters 3 and 4 deal with different aspects of school life including policies. Chapter 5 gives an insight into management skills and strategies which are being applied at Lilian Baylis School (LBS). The last chapter shows the relevance of this study to the Maltese educational system and offers recommendations for its improvement.
