Fairfield First School : comparisons and contrasts with local schools

Abstract

Students following the evening Diploma course in Educational Administration and Management at the University of Malta, were given the very welcomed opportunity to actively, personally participate in a fortnight's attachment programme in a state school in Britain. The intention and purpose of these visits being to observe first-hand the British State Educational Administration and Management of schools as it is being actuated today. Without any doubt our active participation in this projected programme would prove an educational and enriching experience. Like many others, who like me have devoted their life to education, I had always felt an urge to visit, observe first-hand and try for myself other administrative systems used in schools abroad. Such personal experience can help evaluate and calculate to what extent and to what best means it can be applied and put into fruitful, practical action in local schools. With this driving purpose in mind, nothing could hold me back in participating in full and with eager pleasure in this attachment programme. The practical experience gained matched and rewarded the expectations.
