Abstract: We ere experiencing a change of ideas about the setting up of systems and the production of equipment. The transition is from the analogue, to the digital concept. The advantages of the latter are now beginning to emerge and become more obvious when one has the task of designing some sort of digital circuit. One is amazed at the freedom of choice of components and their tolerances for the same order accuracy. With the above thought in mind this thesis was launched and some methods of providing a function generator using digital were reviewed. Unfortunately the change mentioned above will take some time yet to be complete and so mod of generators investigated have their output in analogue form. The accuracy of a digital function generator is usually an order better than an analogue one for the same tolerances in the components, however the output of a digital system is in discrete form [...]
