Abstract: The first title in the Cossacks series was released in April 2001 by Strategy First Inc. and later re-released in April 2002 by CDV Software Entertainment AC The game was developed by Kiev-based GSC Game-world. Cossacks is a real time strategy (RTS) game set in 17th- and 18th-century Europe. In terms of game-play, Cossacks follows the established conventions of the RTS genre: Players gather resources (gold, wood, food, stone, iron and coal) and use them to construct buildings and military units, which are then sent out to attack enemy armies and buildings.
