dc.description.abstract | This research has been conducted to explore the Data Digitisation process as implemented at the Government Property Department (GPD). The researcher's aim was to carry out this study in order to provide support in the implementation of a similar system as planned to be introduced and implemented at the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure (MTI). The growing awareness towards a Paperless Office environment within all Government Departments is rapidly progressing in line with the new Information Technology (IT) approach. A Paperless Office system has been adopted by many foreign organisations since it enhances profitability by increasing efficiency and improving organisational effectiveness. The globalisation of IT and internet related systems have paved the way for a paperless environment but resources are the major target for the effective implementation. The recommendations put forward in this research are the outcome of an in-depth analysis of the system implemented, supported by interviews and questionnaires with major stakeholders at the GPD. This study highlighted the 'resistance to change' situation to the full accord of this new and innovative digitisation tool amongst the GPD employees. To date, during the day to day activity of work, the paper file documents, still holds. | en_GB |
