The present study was undertaken with the idea of finding out the relationships among locus of control, anxiety, self-esteem and hassles. Tests used included the Jackson Personality Inventory (from which the self-esteem and anxiety tests were taken), the James Internal-External Locus of Control, and the Inventory of College Students' Recent Life Experiences. With these tests, a questionnaire of 149 items was assembled. It was administered to 73 female university students (20 in a first year course and 53 in a third year course). An SPSS Program was used for the analysis. The findings indicate that there is a relationship between total anxiety and the measures of self-esteem and hassles. Further analyses revealed a strong relationship between locus of control and anxiety.en_GB
