Abstract: After introducing some noise pollution laws and legislations in the UK, USA and in Malta, this long essay continues by explaining the risks to hearing sensitivity. A brief description of the Audiometer - the instrument used for measuring hearing, will be found in chapter 1, after which results obtained from the Audiogram Tests carried out on workers of Enemalta will be explained in chapter 2. Chapter 3 includes a copy of the questionnaire and a brief description of its outcome, followed by an overall discussion in chapter 4. Chapter 5 concludes the work by suggesting various measures that can be taken to reduce and control excessive noise, and also how best to implement the use of ear protection.
