Following a successful first run of the Summer School in Maltese Linguistics 2009, the Institute of Linguistics, in collaboration with the Department of Maltese, through the Foundation for International Studies Ltd., is pleased to announce its International Programme in Maltese Linguistics to be held at the Old University Building in Valletta, Malta, between 22-31 March 2010.

The programme is intended to provide participants with the opportunity to become acquainted with different aspects of the linguistic structure of Maltese, thus providing them with a better understanding of the intricate workings of the language. The programme should appeal both to linguists and students of Linguistics, particularly those interested in Maltese; as well as to practitioners working with Maltese such as translators and language teachers, particularly teachers of Maltese to adults/foreigners.

The academic programme is divided into two parts, consisting of courses and seminars in Maltese Linguistics, and a course for adult and foreign learners of the language. As with the 2009 Summer School, the 2010 edition will alsom feature a rich social programme.

The International Programme is coordinated by Dr. Sandra Vella.
