Patrizia Paggio is an Associate Professor in Linguistics and the Academic Coordinator for the Human Language Technology programme at the University of Malta. She is currently on leave from her position as a senior researcher at the Centre for Language Technology of the University of Copenhagen.

She has research and teaching experience in many areas of compuational linguistics and language technology, such as formal grammar, machine translation, grammar checking, dialogue systems, evaluation of NLP systems, and content-based querying.

Her current research interests fall in the area of multimodal communication and development of multimodal corpora; in particular she is interested in empirically-based analyses of the way in which speech and non-verbal behaviour interact.
