The Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences (MaKS) offers a range of specialised courses which enables students to further enhance their knowledge and specialisation. The following is a list of taught courses at Postgraduate level currently on offer:


M.Sc. in Cognitive Science (90 ECTS)

The Faculty also offers the following M.A. (by Research) in the following areas (90 ECTS):


  • Film Theory, Media Communications, Instructional Design, and Evaluation. Course programmes are available either on 3 semesters full-time  basis or 6 semesters part-time basis.
  • Cognitive Science including Memory Systems, Intuitive Judgement and Decision Making. Course programmes are available either on 3 semesters full-time  basis or 6 semesters part-time basis.
  • Digital Media Art. Course programmes are available either on 3 semesters full-time  basis or 6 semesters part-time basis.
  • Integrated Information Policy development, Inter-disciplinary Approaches to Information Ethics; Security and Surveillance, Digital Forensics, Internet Governance, Digital Divide issues. Course programmes are available either on 3 semesters full-time  basis or 6 semesters part-time basis.
  • Development of Maltese Libraries, Archives and Records Centres; Physical and Virtual Accessibility issues;  Bibliographic Control and description of Malta-related Printed and Manuscript Material;  Library and Archive Education; School Libraries. Course programmes are available either on 3 semesters full-time  basis or 6 semesters part-time basis.
  • Other areas may also be considered. Please send details of your area of research interest here

 

Applications for an MA by Research degree may be submitted online any time throughout the year, but enrollment is either 1st of February or 1st of October. 

 

PhD Studies

 

The Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences offers the opportunity to study for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in several areas of specialisation. A Doctoral Degree is designed to develop outstanding researchers with a deep understanding of the practical or scientific issue under study. Prospective applicants interested in pursuing a Doctoral Degree should contact the Faculty for a list of potential supervisors and further details of the application process. No applications are to be submitted online, unless a proposal has been prepared in collaboration with a potential supervisor and that proposal has been approved and recommended by the Doctoral Committee of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences.
