Introduction: the Role of a Student Representative

Each Faculty at the University of Malta has student representatives at course level, on Faculty Board as well as on Council and Senate. Student representatives participate and attend Board meetings and other functions and present the students’ voice. Students may contact their representative should they require advice or for the representative to deal with a complaint.

Matthew Galea
Ph.D. Student - Department of Digital Arts

I am currently reading for a PhD in Digital Arts at the Department of Digital Arts, Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences under the supervision of Prof Vince Briffa. As a student here I have grown a lot both as a researcher and as a practitioner, and I am very keen to contribute to the student experience within the Faculty. Our Faculty is young and dynamic and I am very fond of our interdepartmental collaborations. I believe that as a student representative I can contribute further to the student experience here by liaising with the board on the student’s behalf on serious matters, but also on the day to day and practical issues that might distract fellow student from focusing on their studies.

David Mallia
B. Communications with European Studies - 2nd Year

I am David Mallia and currently following a course in B. Communications with European Studies. Media & Knowledge Sciences are an integral part of our life and without them, our modern world would not be able to function correctly. Through experiences with associations & working opportunities, I am prepared to take on such an opportunity, and give something back to the course which has already given me so much resources. Giving a voice to students is something of satisfaction and fulfilment and during these months, we will do everything in our power to reach the maximum prospective of the courses which are offered by our faculty. If any of you would like to get in touch, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Thank you all!

Damian Cuschieri
B. Communications (Honours) - 1st year

I’m a first year student reading for a Degree in Communications, and ever since I started this course, I knew I wanted to play a bigger part in the community. Helping other students has always been of utmost importance to me and being elected student representative has given me the perfect opportunity to do so. My fellow colleagues have trusted me with this task and I will surely not disappoint. If anyone has any queries, complaints, opinions or anything they’d like to discuss regarding their course, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

Patrick Wallbank
B. Communications (Honours) with Psychology - 3rd year

My instincts have always driven me to help others, and my patience and compassion have earned me the respect and confidence of my classmates. It is these qualities that have brought me to the Board of Studies. My goal is to bring the voice of the students to the faculty and ensure our degree is as rewarding and fulfilling as possible. If you ever have an issue with your classes or your course, please come talk to me about it and know that I will do everything within my power to resolve it

Zoe Louise Gatt
B. Fine Arts (Honours) in Digital Arts student - 2nd Year

I have always been enthusiastic when it comes to lending a hand, and I therefore felt compelled to become a student representative. Throughout a student's three-year journey reading for a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Digital Arts, I aim to help wherever possible; to make sure that each individual's voice is heard, and to ensure that each student is provided with the means to make their lives as students a little less clamorous, and a lot more endearing.

Ryan Muscat Verzin
B. Fine Arts (Honours) in Digital Arts student - 2nd Year

This is my first year as a student in the BFA in Digital Arts (Hons) course, and it has been a very exciting journey so far! I look forward to continue to learn and absorb what the course has yet to offer me as a student, and also to represent the students in the BFA, to further improve and voice out their opinions, to ensure we students can benefit and get the most out of our 3 years in the course. Looking forward!

There is currently 2 vacancies for a student at Undergraduate level for B.KIM and one student at Postgraduate level in all areas of studies. If interested kindly contact the Faculty's Main Office
