H.E. Ambassador Umberto De Vito addressed MEDAC students on the theme of 'Italy's Mediterranean priorities. Challenges and opportunities for a more effective common EU foreign and security policy'.

The session is part of MEDAC's Ambassadorial lecture series. During his address Ambassador Umberto De Vito highlighted the importance that Italy dedicates towards stability in the Mediterranean. The Italian EU Presidency in 2014 has continued to emphasize the priority attached to security in the Mediterranean with particular focus to supporting countries in transition across the southern Mediterranean, including Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. H.E. Ambassador Umberto De Vito also provided an overview of the challenge of managing Migration in the central Mediterranean and the ever growing importance of energy security.
