No changes in presentations will be permitted after this date unless requested by the Department of Pharmacy. 

It is imperative that you adhere to the 5 minute time limit.

A description of your project of not more than 605 characters including spaces (excluding title and student’s name) has to be submitted via the online form available at https://www.um.edu.mt/ms/pharmacy/forms/~4ypform by 28 January 2019.

Fourth year students are required to attend a 3-hour session per week at a community pharmacy during the second semester.

All students are required to submit Form A to apply for approval of the pharmacy where they will be attending for practice by 12 October 2018 to Ms Joanne Bugeja.


At the end of the second semester, students are required to submit Form C/4 by 24 May 2019 to Ms Joanne Bugeja.


Students should download and read through the Handbook for Community Pharmacy Practice which is available through the 2018/19 VLE area for the respective module. 


All forms are available in the VLE area.

Students are expected to attend for their practical attachment between 1 October 2018 and 18 January 2019

Students have to complete the Student Portfolio and follow the tutorials as per issued time-table. Handbooks for each orientation are available through the VLE for the specific modules. The completed Student Portfolio should be submitted by 1 February 2019 to Ms Joanne Bugeja.  

Other details with regards to the placement are as follows:

  1. Students are expected to attend for 30 hours per week (Monday-Friday) in liaison with the preceptor. During the remaining hours students are expected to participate in tutorials and study hours.
  2. Students are allowed to report in sick, however they should duly inform both the preceptor and the Department of Pharmacy
  3. Students are expected to participate in academic activities during term time and vacation leave is as per University recess, where for this academic year Christmas Recess dates are from the 21 December 2018 to 6 January 2019.

Medical Cannabis World Forum 2018

The Department of Pharmacy plays a key role in facilitating innovative developments in the area of pharmacy and medicinal products through education and research. In line with this mission, the Department is pleased to announce that complimentary registration is available to students interested in participating at the Medical Cannabis World Forum 2018 being held on the 20-21 November 2018 at the Malta Mediterranean Conference CentreThe Medical Cannabis World Forum will bring together experts from around the globe and focus on five pillars: Legislation, Business, Regulatory, Education & ResearchThis is an opportunity for students to reflect on current procedures, regulation and legislation of medical cannabis use in different countries, to understand benefits and risks associated with cannabis, to learn about innovative clinical pharmaceutical dosage forms and application and to realise potential for further research in the area.

No lectures and other academic activities are scheduled during this event.

Students interested to attend need to pre-register by sending an email to Amanda Calleja on amanda.calleja@um.edu.mt indicating Name and Surname, Course and Year of Study and putting Pre-Registration for Medical Cannabis World Forum in Subject.

X Malta Medical School Conference

Students are encouraged to register and participate at the Malta Medical School Conference being held between 29 November and 1 December 2018 at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julian’sDuring these dates, all lectures and academic activities are cancelled. The conference presents an array of opportunities including  experiencing a wealth of information related to pharmacy and health issues, learning about cutting-edge innovation and networking with colleagues. Registration information is available at https://www.um.edu.mt/umms/mmsc/registration2018


Students' rebate - Faculty of Medicine and Surgery

The Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery is pleased to offer a 50% rebate on full attendance registration fees for the X Malta Medical School Conference, to all delegates who at the time of registration, are full time undergraduate students following one of the courses of the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery (second registration option above). Such students should make the request for refund through the Helpdesk of the Medical School by not later than Tuesday 18 December 2018. These requests must be accompanied by the students' ID Card numbers together with the original receipts.

 


IMPORTANT NOTICE RE EXAMS


Students are hereby notified that they have to bring with them an acceptable proof of identity either a Malta ID cardPassport or a University Library card at every exam.

With reference to Regulation 33 (2) that states that:

"Students who are not able to provide acceptable proof of identity may be permitted to continue the Examination provided that they undertake to produce verification of their identity within a reasonable period, normally on the same day of the Examination. If Verification is not provided, the matter shall be referred to the Assessment Disciplinary Board."

The invigilator will inform the Faculty Officer as soon as they see that a student does not have the required identification document.
