Dottor Giuseppe Demarco, "versatissimo nel latino" and "illustre dotto maltese", has made a name in the history of medicine in Malta, Montpelier and Tripoli in the 18th century. His versatility appears in the several manuscripts of his, mostly in Latin, which still await publication. This publication illustrates the controversy which Demarco entered in justifying what he considered as correct the theory on the presence of air in the blood system by his mentor Francois de Savage of Montpelier.
