Welcome to the University of Malta (UM)
The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Malta and Barts Cancer Institute of Queen Mary University of London are offering a new joint Master of Science Programme in October 2020.
The New Master of Science in Surgical Skills is aimed at Surgical Trainees and MD/MBBS graduates and Allied Health Professionals. No classification and experience is required.
This programme has two key aims:
Although it is being envisaged that students will follow the entire programme of studies leading to the award of the MSc degree (90ECTS), students also have the possibility to be awarded a Post-Graduate Diploma in Surgical Skills provided that they have obtained 60ECTS. If a student obtains 30ECTS has the possibility to be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Surgical Skills.
The rationale for this programme is to offer new curriculum of technology-enhanced learning as a more flexible mode of study, allowing the programme to be studied alongside surgical training for local and international students.
Although the focus of the programme is to develop surgical skills through clinical simulated practice, students are also trained in conducting research and writing up a dissertation.
Applications are now open. For more details please refer to our course page.
