MEDECC authors' meeting in Marseille: Prof. Michael Briguglio participates

Prof. Michael Briguglio (Department of Sociology, University of Malta) participated in the first in-person Author Meeting for MEDECC's Second Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR2) at Aix-Marseille Université, France, from 5 to 7 November.

The meeting brought together Coordinating Lead Authors and Lead Authors, including Prof. Michael Briguglio, to advance the first draft of MAR2, focusing on chapter content, key messages, cross-cutting issues, overlaps, and knowledge gaps.

Over three intensive days, authors of the seven chapters worked collaboratively to develop draft texts, integrate stakeholder feedback on the outline and structure of the report, and strengthen links across chapters.

More than 60 scientists from 17 countries, with expertise in climate science, environmental change, impacts, adaptation, vulnerability, and mitigation, are working on the MAR2 Document which is expected to be published in 2028.

The Mediterranean Experts on Climate and environmental Change (MedECC) is an open and independent international scientific expert network founded in 2015 and providing information to decision-makers and the general public on the basis of available scientific information and on-going research. MedECC prepares assessments and a comprehensive synthesis of global change knowledge in the Mediterranean region and their risks.
