PSHD Diversity Week

The President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society is offering their expertise to San Andrea School for their annual PSHD Week. The theme chosen for this year is diversity. The activity will run from 2 till 6 May. Through the Foundation’s Fora we will be facilitating activities on Gender, Interfaith, Transculturalism, Disability and Ageing with Dignity. The initiative will offer a safe space where students can interact and be informed of important issues that can affect their lives and the lives of others. This is a closed activity for the students attending San Andrea Schools.
Growing in Foster Care – Child Forum

The Child Forum would like to invite adults who have grown up in foster care for a round table discussion to share their experiences and to explore methods through which the wellbeing of children growing up in foster care can be improved. This meeting will take place in a safe space with the highest degree of confidentiality. This will be a closed event.

This event is being organised by the Interfaith Forum. This will serve as a beautiful opportunity for faithful leaders and communities to come together to explore the usually hidden grounds of the Palace as they are generally closed to the public. The short walk around the private gardens will be led by Prof. Edward Warrington. This is event is by invite only.

Working with Voices: The Hearing Voices Approach

A public lecture delivered by Trevor Eyles, a voice hearing consultant who works internationally to train professionals and voice-hearers, and Board Member of the Danish Hearing Voices Network. This lecture will offer information, support, and understanding to people who hear voices and to those around them. This event is in collaboration with Hearing Voices Malta. Hearing Voices Malta are committed to helping people who hear voices. This event is open to the general public.
Round Table Discussion: Migrants in the Working Environment – Transcultural Forum

The aim of the meeting is to facilitate dialogue between migrants and trade unions. This meeting will serve as a safe space for discussion, in which we can work on ensuring that the rights of migrants are respected.
Is your house your castle or your prison? – Ageing with Dignity Forum

The Ageing with Dignity forum will have a discussion session in Gozo. We will be discussing issues related to mobility and independence after reaching a certain age. For this event, we encourage people over 60 to attend. This event will be held in Gozo.
Follow up meeting – Read With Me – Culture Forum

After a consultation meeting in Gozo, we discovered that there are a lot of small libraries across Gozo that are unused. We saw the need to have a Read With Me session in Gozo, in order to disseminate good practice and teach people how to engage and encourage children to read.

Launch of the Gender Forum

The President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society is pleased to announce that we will be adding another Forum to the other six to continue the sterling work. On 17 May, we will be launch the Gender Forum. The Forum will address issues related to gender identity. Through this forum we aim to provide a safe and open platform through which we can promote gender equality and raise awareness on gender related issues and concerns.
Launch of ‘Exploring drug driving legislation in Malta in the context of the European landscape’

The National Centre for Freedom from Addictions is launching a study which explores the status of drug-driving policies across the EU, with particular reference to a few Member States including Belgium, Norway, the United Kingdom and France. The study draws comparisons between approaches to counter drug-driving in these countries, and the situation on a National level. The analysis focuses on four main areas of the policy-making and policy-implementation processes: scientific evidence; policies and legislation; enforcement; and sanctioning. A set of ten recommendations, specifically related to these four areas, will be presented for consideration by Maltese authorities and stakeholders. All are welcome to attend. Kindly RSVP by no later than Monday 16 May 2016.

Adults and Children with Disability – Gozo – Disability Forum
The President’s Foundation will be facilitating a meeting for persons with disability in Gozo. We will be meeting adults and children with disability in two separate sessions at St. Marta Centre in Gozo. The aim of this meeting is to offer a safe space for discussion, and to exchange ideas and experiences of what gives a sense of wellbeing.
MOVE at Verdala – Community Forum

For this event the President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society is partnering with MOVE. The MOVE WEEK campaign is an annual Europe-wide event. During MOVE Week, thousands of activities take place simultaneously across Europe in a week-long festival of sports and physical activity. For this reason the Foundation has teamed up with MOVE to offer a fun filled event at Verdala Palace.
