The Foundation for Shelter and Support to Migrants and the Third Country National Support Network Malta are offering a training programme in Community Mentoring, Training and Peacebuilding. The course is primarily intended for persons from countries outside the European Union who are interested in mentoring and peacebuilding as tools for supporting the inclusion and empowerment of migrant communities in Malta, however any interested persons can be considered.
The programme starts this month June 2016 and will end in May 2017, with a series of training modules on various subjects, including volunteering, social assessment, peacebuilding, volunteering and mentoring. Participants will be able to organise their own cultural events based on concepts of inclusion and participation, and start or take part in a mentoring programme that focuses on supporting persons in the community to improve their skills and competences related to literacy, language, culture and communication. Professional qualifications are not required, but good verbal and writing skills in English, as well as good communication skills would be an asset. Preferably participants are already connected to a community they would like to support, so that human and knowledge resources can be applied practically during the programme.
Participants will be given certificates of attendance for each course, as well as feedback on their course and practical work.
