The film ‘Operation Red Sea' will be screened on Thursday 29 March at 18:45 at the Valletta Campus Theatre, Old University Building, Valletta (access via St Paul Street and Merchant Street).
Operation Red Sea serves as the highlight film presented to audiences as a gift for the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, as well as the party's 19th National Congress.This film is said to be "China's first modern naval film".The film has grossed USD$545 million, making it currently the second highest-grossing film of 2018 and second highest-grossing ever in China.
Synopsis
The Chinese Navy’s Jiaolong (Sea Dragon) Assault Team is famed for its skill in getting the job done. After its success in rescuing a cargo ship hijacked by pirates off the Somalia coast, the team is assigned an even more perilous mission. A coup in a North African republic has left local Chinese residents in danger, circumstances further complicated by a terrorist plot to obtain nuclear materials. The situation could prove fatal to the hostages and disastrous to the entire region, and presents Jiaolong with a challenge that threatens the very existence of the team and its members…
