A solo harpsichord recital with a difference on Sunday 4 March at 17:00.
Kuhnau composed a set of Biblical Sonatas where particular biblical events are set to music. One can find titles such as: "Saul Cured by David through Music" (Sonata No.2), which explores the "sadness and fury of the King", followed by "the refreshing harp playing of David, to end with "the tranquil and content soul of Saul". Sonata Number 4 explores a much different episode, associated with "The Agonized and Resigned Hiskia", where Hiskia's lament turns into confidence in God and joy for the convalescent King.
Father Christopher Caruana OP will be giving enlightening reflections on these biblical events, followed by a performance of the Sonata. Dr Joanne Camilleri will be performing Sonatas 2, 4 & 5 - music which promises to provide an uplifting experience.
