The Chinese Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is the second most important traditional festival in China, after the Spring Festival. It is determined by exact astronomical observations of the sun's longitude and the moon`s phases, which typically define the Chinese the luni-solar calendar. Owing to the symbolic wholeness of a large and luminous full moon, the Moon Festival is widely associated with sentimental connotations of unity and reunion, enjoyment of friends close by, and transmitting affection to loved ones far away through the far-reaching moonlight. Outdoor entertainment under a bright moonlit sky are an all-time favourite way of celebrating this annual festivity.
Melodious Fujian - Moon Festival Performance is presented by Fujian Arts & Cultural Troupe – which is composed of representatives from the Fujian Opera Dance and Drama Theater, Fujian Provincial Acrobatic Troupe, Quanzhou Heritage Protection Center of Marionette Theatre, and Jinjiang Hand Puppet Art Protection Inheritance Center.
