The Department of International Relations will be hosting a public lecture by Dr Jack Corbett, entitled “Who is Small and Why? The Rise of Small States in International Organisations.”
The lecture will take place on Wednesday 22 November from 14:00 to 15.00 in Room 116 Old Humanities Building (OH116) at the University of Malta, Msida Campus. The event is free of charge and open to the general public.
Dr Jack Corbett is Associate Professor in Politics at the University of Southampton. He is the author of Being Political: Leadership and Democracy in the Pacific Islands (Hawaii, 2015); Australia’s Foreign Aid Dilemma: Humanitarian Aspirations Confront Democratic Legitimacy (Routledge, 2017); and with Wouter Veenendaal Democracy in Small States: Why It Can Persist Against All Odds (2018, Oxford University Press). He is currently working on an Australian Research Council Discovery Project on the participation of small states in international organisations. He is the lead Book reviews Editor for Small States & Territories, a new scholarly journal being produced at the University of Malta with a launch date of May 2018.
