The Department of Digital Arts, of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences, University of Malta, invites the public to NU, an exhibition by a group of thirteen students who are currently reading for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) degree in Digital Arts. The exhibition forms part of the final year students’ dissertation and is being held at the Faculty studio.
NU is derived from the thirteenth letter of the Greek alphabet. Apart from representing the number of participants, NU phonetically resembles the word ‘new’ which is in line with the idea of bringing new concepts to the table.
NU incorporates a number of different projects ranging from photography and illustration, to animation, web design and conceptual art. Apart from this, the students are also in charge of the branding, design, PR and marketing of their works, both on a personal as well as on a collective level.
All this may be seen during the opening night of NU on the 25 May 2018 at 19:30. Everyone is invited to this exhibition, where students will display their work and also be open to discussion about their project. The exhibition will remain open until the 8 June 2018 during office hours.
The three year undergraduate course embodies the study and practice of traditional and contemporary art and design within today’s context.
The course prepares students to come up with innovative ideas and be able to solve problems through art and design. It also prepares students for future professions in the field of Digital Arts, mainly through the specialisations of Graphic Design and Animation. Illustration and Photography also feature prominently throughout the course in both streams of study. Within these three years, students research, create and collaborate on artistic content and this pushes them to experiment and step outside their comfort zone.
Updates regarding the exhibition will be posted on the Instagram page @weare_nu and the Facebook page @weare.nu.2018.
